Cover Art

I'm so excited! Here is the preliminary artwork for the new book cover. What do you think?

BTW - It should be on it's way to the printer by month's end. The publisher is nearly done with editing and formatting.

Addendum: Ooh, it came out really green on the blog. It's not the green in real life.

Is this an expanded version of your "Literature Isn't Just for Reading"?

Now those are some good looking kids!!! Chrissy

Yes Renee, it's the expanded, new and improved, version. It went from 80 pgs to 300!

Chrissy, those are the publisher's kids.

Neat!! What age levels are the recommendations for? Through eighth grade or including high school?

It's for preschool to adult. Anybody and everybody is included.

Yay! Love the cover, and can't wait to purchase it. We are always looking for good reads, and it sounds like this will be a wonderful resource for years to come.

Maureen,
You are breaking my bank account :) Now I want to know how you find time to write books, homeschool and the other "mother" duties that must be accomplished daily? WOW, women like you impress me..... I can't even keep the dust bunnies under control.

Who is the publisher? Can we pre-order?
I just passed along the link to this page of your blog to my Catholic Tapestry of Grace yahoo loop. I think a number of moms would like this book to choose Catholic resources for TOG.

Tahnk you everyone for your kind comments! So many questions too! I'm going to answer the questions in my next blog post. Please do not hesitate to ask away if you have more.

Renee, please tell me more about Tapestry of Grace. I seem to keep hearing it's name the past few weeks.

I'm currently updating my little puzzle books for Middle Ages and Renaissance because of TOG.

Maureen-I met you at the MN Homeschool Conf a few years ago and picked up your small bound version....at the same time saying, "You should publish this!" You shrugged it off and replied, "Oh, it's just what we used!" Yey! We are all so hungry for what is being published by you! Can't wait to get my hands on it and for you to read about Tapestry of Grace! What a perfect combination!

Thank you so much LKing. Hey, you get a discount! I'm going to offer a discount to everyone who already bought the booklet from me. I'm not sure yet what that'll be -- Once it goes to the printer I'll know the final price of the book.

It looks great! My book budget is always in trouble when I visit here, Maureen. :-)

I believe that along with great literature, sometimes a person wants "escape reading". (I 'spose some would call this prattle.) For example, my rising 9th graders like Mary Higgins Clark and/or Carol Higgins Clark (far from literature, yet keeps them content on a warm afternoon). Will your book include any such recommendations?

Hi Colleen! Yep, just like I can't resist a McDonald's double cheeseburger now and then, I also sometimes like to indulge in some easy reading. In fact, our teen reading club read a Mary Higgins Clark title for the last book of the year. This morning I found myself reading Hardy Boys to my 3rd grader and Captain Underpants to my preschooler. (Can you believe I would admit to such a wretched thing as to reading Captain Underpants =:-O) But, alas, I don't hit on the light reading too much in For the Love of Literature. The focus of that book is teaching core subjects through literature. Yes, I do suggest many very enjoyable books, books that could be savored on their own or could be tied into school lessons, but nothing along the lines of Higgins Clark, or Captain Underpants even :-).
