Is the author supportive of belowdeck schooling, or does he want parents to put their kids on the school dinghy every day?

You know what, I'm not exactly sure. I'll tweet him and ask.

Maureen,

Captain Billy, AKA Tim Bete, tweeted me back and I quote,
"Pirates are the primary educators of their little powder monkeys and should choose what's best for the entire crew. I was schooled on a ship."

Great answer! Anyone on Twitter just has to sign up for his tweets -- so funny!

The Other Maureen :)

As someone whose friends have been recently ben involved with a life-threatening encounter with pirates, might I suggest that we not make light of and glamorize this? It's not that funny.
