Every summer my high school students get on a bus with 40 or so teenagers and head to Franciscan University in Steubenville for their youth conference. When my children return home and step off that bus they are forever changed. They are not the same teenagers who left a few days before. The Holy Spirit is hard at work at these conferences and my children are more faith filled, more joyful, and more in love with God's church because of it.
I am so grateful to the people at FUS who pull these conferences together. It's got to take an incredible amount of work, money, and faith to make it all work. Praise God for these workers in the field, whoever they may be. They are in my prayers.
If you have a high school student, I highly recommend the Steubenville Youth Conferences. You don't even have to drive to Ohio if that is a long distance for you, as FUS has set up youth conferences all over the country from the left coast to the right coast. See if your parish or another local parish has a bus going. Here in mid-Michigan there are youth groups in many parishes who organize buses for the conferences. If you can't find one, well, then organize your own. Or just take your own kids and their friends in the family van.
Just don't miss this opportunity.
