If your four-year old shoves a bead up his nose, for no apparent reason, a toothpick works nicely for getting it out.
I know this because that's what I used last night. In the past (yes, sadly, this was not the first, or even the second or third time, I've had to do this), I learned quickly that a tweezer only sends the bead higher up into the nose. With a toothpick, I could slide it into the hole of the bead and then maneuver it out.
This is what I went to college for.

When Matt was about three he got a piece of corn stuck in his nose (from playing in the gravity box). We couldn't get it out so Chuck took him to the doctor. He couldn't get it out either. The doctor said he had to be sedated and that a surgeon would take it out. I didn't like that idea, so I waited until Matt went to sleep and I used a cotton swab to get it out. It worked great.
What's a gravity box?

If the "bead in the nose" ever happens again try pepper, I heard that someone did that with a marble in the nose. The child took one sniff of the pepper and the marble shot clear across the room when he sneezed! LOL
