Used Textbooks at amazon.com

Since eBay has put the nix on buying and selling textbooks, maybe amazon.com is a source to be explored:

The Amazon.com Books team is gearing up for another successful Textbooks season. This will be our biggest back-to-school season yet!

New Textbooks:

* From now through October 7th, customers can save up to 20% off campus bookstore prices on new textbooks sold by Amazon.com.

* In addition, customers can also save an extra $15 when they spend over $150 on new textbooks sold by Amazon.com.

Used Textbooks:

* Through our extensive network of third party sellers, we are able to offer customers millions of used textbooks at up to 90% off list prices.
Addendum: The ban at eBay is on teachers' editions and answer keys. See the link in the blog entry below (August 27th).

Hmm, I just sold a Saxon Algebra 1 set on eBay. There were other Saxon books there, too. Is it just new textbooks? And just what kind of new policy do they have? Or does someone just think this is the case? Did you learn this from eBay or from someone else? Lots of questions. :) You don't have to answer each question. I'd just like to know what "eBay has put the nix on buying and selling textbooks" MEANS, exactly...or where I can find that out. Thanks so much!

Hi Mary Margaret!

I provided a link to an article on the subject in a previous blog entry (Sunday). Here is a link to eBay's new policy:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/teachersedition.html

"Teacher's editions of textbooks and solutions manuals that are intended solely for use by teachers are not permitted by eBay."

My guess is that you could sell textbooks, but not the teachers editions or solutions manuals.

However, textbooks are little use to me if I can't get the answer keys.
